Well its been a while since I’ve made the time to blog. After I could be you I collapsed in a heap of mental exhaustion you won’t catch me directing and writing my own play again. The play was successful for a season during Fringe and at Theatreworks- we got up to 50 people per night and broke even by $1000. Since then the team has moved on to bigger and better things. Simon Charles the sound operator and composer did a residency at Monsalvat that was made into a documentary- he is so inspiring and even dedicated a song to my poem that I wrote in his company. Diana Nguyen has devised and starred in her own show Phi and Me which has gone great guns in Springvale and elsewhere- a return season is on the cards courtesy of Springvale Council who have granted her a year long residency. She worked with Amber Hart the stage manager who has now starred in her own show and is pregnant with her first child. In my news I have given birth to William who is now 8 weeks old. The whole exercise was exhausting and horrible for me- though there have been great moments of joy and love I will never do it again. On the plus side it has influenced my writing to be more compassionate to my characters and given a level of emotional depth to my latest works that was not there before. Stay tuned for the next few posts…
