Presented by Theatre Works and Embrace Productions as part of the GIRLS AT WORK Season. [2010 Melbourne Fringe Festival]
“I’m invisible because you refuse to see me…”
I could be you was a short ten minute play in the Melburnalia 2 series in 2009. In 2010 I will be premiering a play length version of the work as part of GIRLS AT WORK at the Melbourne Fringe Festival at Theatre Works in St Kilda. I have also been lucky enough to draw on the research of Pamie Fung, a PhD student from the University of Melbourne who has studied the site.
In this new, extended version, Shireen, an Indian international student is taken to an immigration detention centre. She is visited by Huong, a Vietnamese-Australian lawyer, and the mysterious Ania. Shireen begins to hear voices and goes mad… Or does she?
